Replacing a single tooth used to be quite the ordeal. It involved getting a dental bridge, which required removing enamel from the abutment teeth (the two teeth on either side of the tooth being replaced). The bridge would attach to the teeth to support the full dental crown that’s placed in between. As you’ve probably guessed, this situation isn’t always stable, as bridges can become loose over time just from daily use.
But, over the last few years, a new treatment has changed the name of the game — dental implants. At David A. Goodman, DMD Alan C. Ko, DMD, Dr. Alan Ko and his team in Milford, Massachusetts, can restore any tooth using only a single dental implant.
Dental implants give you the freedom to love eating again. You can enjoy all your favorite foods like steak, popcorn, and even apples without worrying about slipping, sore spots, or food getting stuck in hard-to-clean places. Your implant works just like your natural tooth, if not better. They fit naturally and feel strong and secure, which isn’t always true with dentures.
An implant can also give your oral health a huge boost. Here are just a few benefits:
A single-tooth dental implant is built to last. No slipping, adjusting, or soaking is required. Once your implant is complete, you can care for it just as you would a natural tooth. It stays where it’s supposed to be, works just like the tooth you lost, and does not need to be replaced every couple of years like most dentures and bridges. It’s a tooth that lasts for a lifetime.
An implant fills in the gap and looks completely natural. No one will be able to tell the difference. It’s designed to match the shape, color, and size of your natural teeth. You will look like you again, and your renewed confidence will shine through anywhere you show your smile, whether it’s at a job interview or having dinner with friends.
You never have to worry about sliding or clicking noises with dental implants. They feel just like they’ve always been there. You can eat, talk, and laugh without giving them a second thought.
Implants support themselves without needing the help of surrounding teeth. Your new tooth will stay in place and remain perfectly aligned. It will not shift, there won’t be any gaps, nor will they wear down. It provides extra stability and support for your natural teeth, serving as a steady foundation that helps keep them from shifting as you age.
Dental implants use 3D scans and guided placement tools to create the most precise and reliable fit possible. These tools help us place the implant exactly where it belongs, which means fewer setbacks and better results.
