THE INVISALIGN TREATMENT PROCESS
YOUR FIRST CONSULTATION
At your initial consultation, we will discuss your orthodontic needs and evaluate whether Invisalign treatment is right for you.
YOUR CUSTOM TREATMENT PLAN & PHILOSOPHY
We will take impressions to create precise 3D digital images of your teeth. Then we will map out a precise treatment plan, including the exact movements of your teeth and how long your treatment will be. You’ll even get to see how your teeth will move and preview your new smile. Because of our deep understanding of airway, TMJ, and oral volume, philosophically, we like to practice expansive orthodontics (example below), never attractive.
YOUR INVISALIGN CLEAR ALIGNERS
Your custom-made aligners will be made of Invisalign’s proprietary SmartTrack® material. They’re virtually invisible, so most people won’t even notice you’re wearing them during your teeth straightening.
Wear your Invisalign clear aligners 20 to 22 hours a day for the best results, and take them out only to eat, brush, and floss.
YOUR PROGRESS
As you wear each set of aligners, your teeth will gently and gradually shift into place. We may recommend that you begin wearing a new set of aligners every week and schedule checkups every six weeks or so.
TAKING CARE OF YOUR NEW SMILE
When your treatment is complete, ask us about a Vivera® retainer. Vivera retainers are custom-made using the same state-of-the-art technology as Invisalign clear aligners.

Invisalign FAQ
How much does Invisalign cost roughly?
The cost ranges from $3000 for simpler cases to over $7000 for complex cases. It depends on location as well as the complexity of the treatment.
How much do 5 trays of Invisalign cost?
Minor movement that only requires less than 5 trays, the typical cost is less than $2000.
Is Invisalign faster than braces?
For certain movements, Invisalign is a better tool and also faster than traditional braces. However, there are some scenarios where traditional braces will over great advantage in terms of time and ease of treatment. It is all case dependent.
Is Invisalign cheaper than braces?
Because Invisalign usually requires a higher laboratory cost, the cost of Invisalign treatment is slightly higher than traditional braces.
Is Invisalign painful?
Invisalign utilizes AI and computer design to gently move teeth in small increments with each subsequent trays. Patients typically feel 3-4 days of tightness when a new tray is inserted.
Can you eat with Invisalign?
We recommend only drinking water when you have Invisalign trays in. If you have to eat or drink any drinks other than plain water, you should pop the trays out.
Do you wear Invisalign all day?
For Invisalign to be effective, a minimum of 20 hours of wear is recommended. We have seen patients wearing the aligners for only 16-18 hours or less, and that’s when we start to see the clinical outcome fall short from the computer designed movements.
What are the negatives of Invisalign?
There are certain types of movements that cannot be completed with Invisalign – such as impacted teeth, rotation greater than 15-30 degrees, and some other more extensive movements. There is also some limitations of how much you can expand the arch (without sacrificing enamel) to resolve crowding when it comes to Invisalign. Like all dental movements, the risk of gum recession is also present.
Does Invisalign last long?
We believe the stability of teeth is based on the balance of forces between the lip and the tongue. If teeth are straight and the internal (tongue) and external (lip) forces are equal, then the teeth should not move. However, if tongue forces are weaker, the chance of relapse without retainers are quite high. This statement is also true for traditional braces.
Which is faster braces or Invisalign?
Invisalign utilizes the cycles of tension and relaxation which is gentler to the underlying bone. Traditional braces with wires – typically provide 24-7 constant force (with the exception of NiTi and/or self-ligating brackets). Constant force can move teeth faster but also could cause more recession and root blunting in some cases.
What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is a modern orthodontic procedure that straightens teeth using transparent, custom-made aligners. These aligners are made from a smooth, comfortable plastic material and gradually shift teeth into the desired position without the need for traditional metal braces. Invisalign is a popular option for individuals seeking a more discreet and comfortable way to improve their smile.
How does Invisalign work?
Invisalign aligners apply gentle, controlled forces to your teeth, gradually moving them into proper alignment. At the beginning of treatment, you will receive a series of aligners that are worn in a specific order. Each set of aligners is designed to shift your teeth slightly, and you’ll wear them for about 20-22 hours a day, removing them only to eat, drink, or brush. Your dentist will provide a new set of aligners every few weeks as your teeth shift.
What are the benefits of Invisalign over traditional braces?
Compared to conventional metal braces, Invisalign has several benefits, including:
- Discreet Appearance: Adults and teenagers who want a more understated orthodontic solution frequently choose clear aligners since they are almost undetectable.
- Comfort: Invisalign aligners are smooth and made of plastic, reducing the likelihood of irritation to the inside of your mouth.
- Removable: Your aligners can be easily removed to eat, drink, brush, and floss, offering more flexibility and convenience than braces.
- Fewer Office Visits: Invisalign requires fewer visits to the orthodontist for adjustments since you switch to a new set of aligners at home.
How long does Invisalign treatment take?
The severity of your dental problems determines how long your Invisalign treatment will take. On average, treatment lasts between 12 to 18 months. However, some cases may be completed in as little as six months, while others may take longer. After evaluating your teeth, your dentist will provide a personalized treatment plan and timeline.
Are Invisalign aligners comfortable to wear?
Yes, Invisalign aligners are designed for comfort. They are made from smooth plastic, reducing irritation to the gums and inside your mouth. When you transition to a new set of aligners, you could feel a little pressure or discomfort, but this is temporary and shows that the aligners are moving your teeth. Most people find Invisalign much more comfortable than traditional braces.
How do I care for my Invisalign aligners?
Proper care is essential to ensure that your aligners remain clear and effective. Clean them daily with a soft toothbrush and lukewarm water. Avoid using hot water, as it can warp the plastic. You can also use the Invisalign cleaning crystals or a mild soap solution to keep your aligners fresh. Always store them in their case when not in use, and avoid eating or drinking anything other than water while wearing them to prevent stains.
Who is a good candidate for Invisalign?
Most people can benefit from Invisalign, but those with mild to moderate orthodontic problems—such as crooked teeth, gaps, overbites, underbites, or crossbites—respond best to the treatment. It may not be suitable for severe cases that require more complex treatment. An orthodontist or dentist specializing in Invisalign can assess your needs and determine whether it is the right option for you.
